Description: THIRTEEN/WNET—the nation’s #1 public television station and leading PBS content producer—is seeking a talented Executive Director of National Corporate Sponsorship Sales to create, lead and execute WNET.ORG’s on air corporate sponsorship opportunities.

WNET.ORG, parent company of THIRTEEN and WLIW21, is a major producer of broadcast and online media for local, national and international audiences, creating award-winning content in the areas of news and current affairs, arts and culture, science and technology, documentaries, and children’s programming.

WNET also produces the Celebration of Teaching and Learning, an annual conference for 8,000 professional educators nation-wide, and provides innovative educational outreach at both the local and national levels.

The Executive Director will play a pivotal role at one of PBS’s flagship stations to grow and develop sponsorship sales and corporate giving activities to work in concert with WNET’s programming and outreach. The Executive Director will assume a leadership position for managing the company’s broadcast advertising/sponsorship efforts in targeting, researching, and soliciting potential corporate sponsors. He/she will also lead and advance the organization’s corporate giving program with local and national corporate partners. With WNET.ORG’s unique advertising/sponsorship format, this role is highly strategic and demands a unique approach to sales. More specifically, the Executive Director will:
· Provide dynamic leadership for the local and national sales teams and a corporate giving officer; establish a culture of energy and enthusiasm; and create an environment that supports goal-setting and results oriented new business development.
· Be accountable for the strategic direction and expansion of WNET.ORG’s brand equity within the advertising marketplace; and overall revenue performance for the division;
· Communicate the sponsorship sales strategies clearly and effectively to all constituencies, both internally and externally;
· Develop sound relationships with the business community at the C-suite levels and facilitate relationships between the WNET President and the CEO’s of those companies to advance the programming and fund raising needs of the organization.
· Manage a portfolio of prospects to cultivate, solicit and secure both new and renewal business by utilizing exemplary sales skills, networking ability and media tools;
· Structure, negotiate and close sales sponsorship deals; cultivate and solicit corporate gifts for restricted and unrestricted purposes.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an accomplished revenue generator, with a strong reputation in the advertising/sponsorship sales field or corporate underwriting/philanthropy field. Proven ability to close gifts/deals, bring innovation and new ideas to the organization and provide a high level of strategic thinking to rejuvenating the business through a revitalized sponsorship sales and giving strategy. Specific experience should include:
· Developing and executing sound sales strategies and tactics aimed at national advertisers and corporate philanthropy decision makers across key business categories;
· Experience as a strategist who can articulate the benefits and relevancy of programming content with client’s business and/or marketing objectives;
· Contacts with key decision makers at a variety of agencies and corporations in the Tri-State area;
· Strong negotiation skills and the ability to close a deal;
· A reputation for being an enthusiastic, energetic, effective networker who enjoys the selling process and is committed to building relationships and expanding the network’s current base of business.
